Trips

At a loss as to where to take your next vacation… or perhaps a day trip? Well… here are 50 (!) of the world's greatest drives to stimulate your imagination, courtesy of National Geographic magazine. I've been fortunate enough to have done about a third of the drives featured in this article, which means I still have some drivin' to do. Or ridin', as the case might be. We're contemplating this particular drive at the moment, given it's only 343 miles away from the front door of El Casa Móvil De Pennington. I might could even do that on Miss Zukiko.

The article is a fun read, even if you don't have plans for a trip in your immediate future. And it's a real synapse-firer if you happen to have cruised around the Finger Lakes, been down the Pacific Coast Hiway, or roamed around up in the Four Corners area… and many other points in between. The article is international in flavor, too… it ain't just the US.

Remember I was on about The Beatles last Wednesday? I talked about the re-issue of the Beatles' digitally re-mastered catalog, but unless you watched the embedded clip you might have missed the fact that "The Beatles Rock Band" was also released this Wednesday past.

Granddaughter Felicity didn't miss it, however. She bought "The Beatles Rock Band" last Wednesday evening and I spent the better part of Thursday night over at SN1's place watching SN1 and the grandkids have a ball with the game. Daughter-in-law Erma and YrHmblScrb didn't participate… directly… as every good band needs an audience. But here's the amazing part: I was the ONLY person "of an age" to actually remember when this music was released, but I certainly wasn't the only one who knew the words to most of the songs. Grandson Sean, at age 12, knew and/or remembered the lyrics as well or better than me. THAT was a rather humbling… not to mention amazing… sort of experience.  Or... to use the '60s vernacular... "What a trip, Maaaan!"

Living proof that the Beatles are timeless, indeed.
